Honestly… Any time is the best time to start a blog.

Entry 1: The Journey for The 6 Star Medal

So here it is… The first entry of my running blog. If you aren’t aware, my goal is to qualify for and run in all the major marathons. Let’s start with a little preface about my running background. I consider myself a hobby runner. I have always enjoyed running as a form of exercise and stress relief. That is about the extent of my running history. I have never run at any type of competitive level, and I do regret that as I have gotten older. Without having a knowledge of what is considered a decent training plan, I was pretty lost when I decided to undertake this goal. I needed a plan. So after semi serious research, I came across an app. Now this is in no way an advertisement of the app. The app that I have chosen to trust with my training is RUNNA. With that being said, I really do enjoy the app and it works for me. It’s 100% customizable and apparently uses AI to update your training plan. It’s pretty easy to set up. All you have to do is type in what your desired time goal is and it will generate a training plan for you to follow.

The Easy Run.

Today’s run was an easy run. It’s crazy to call this an easy run, because last year I wouldn’t have considered this an easy run. I can definitely feel my fitness improving. Im less sore after runs and I don’t find myself struggling throughout these runs. They have been going over pretty smooth.

What did the good ole RUNNA app have planned for me today?

The training plan called for a 5 mile easy run at no faster than 8:15 per mile. Honestly this run felt very manageable. On a scale of 1 through 10 with 10 being the hardest, I would say this would rank at about a 4. Like I said, I am really happy where my fitness is trending towards.

So how did I do?

I ran a total of 5.01 miles at a 8:27 per mile pace. I completed this run in 42 mins and 24 secs. Pretty boring run. But that’s what easy runs should be, easy. Nothing too exciting, but I did enjoy running around my usual spot. The only thing that sucks, is daylight savings time… Like who thought it was a good idea to end the days earlier? The last mile or so was a race against the sunset. Because I do not want to be caught out after dark where I run… Nothing is faster than a crackhead. Imagine a crackhead with some alphaflys? Move over Kipchoge, there’s a new GOAT in town. But I digress.

What shoes did I run in?

Today the shoe of choice was the ON Cloud Eclipse. I have found myself reaching for these shoes more and more. I thin k they are the perfect was day shoe. They provide tons of cushion and stack height to protect the legs. They even have a speed board in them for a little stability and some type of propulsion to help move you forward when the legs begin to feel tired. I can honestly say these are becoming my favorite “easy day” shoes. Maybe I’ll try my hand at a full review the more miles I log in these shoes. Overall uneventful and no injuries. What more can you ask of an easy run.
